40 hours per week – 1 day to be spent at university, 4 days to be spent on site

Starting salary £18,000 per year

Virologica provides expert microbiology testing services to a variety of industries, supporting companies who produce medical devices and consumer products. We offer a comprehensive range of standard and customised microbiological testing methods including antimicrobial efficacy, disinfection, cytotoxicity and penetration testing. To support our continued expansion, we now have a vacancy for a Degree Apprentice to join our Microbiology team at our SciTech Daresbury facility.

This is an exciting opportunity to attain a degree qualification and build a career with a dynamic and growing company, as well as gaining real world experience and insight into the medical device and consumer product industries. You will assist with a diverse range of testing as well as routine tasks, becoming acquainted with all aspects of laboratory work and collaborating with a dynamic multidisciplinary team. We are very much focused on identifying and recruiting the very best candidate to add value to our business, and upon completion of the apprenticeship there will be an opportunity for promotion and further progression within the company.

Candidate Requirements:

· At least 5 GCSEs at grade 5, including English, Maths and a Science subject

· Have, or predicted, A levels or equivalent equalling a minimum of 96 UCAS points, including Biology

· Written and verbal communication

· Good organisation and time management

· Passionate about science, in particular microbiology, virology and cell biology

· Able to work effectively as part of a team

· Able to complete tasks independently and autonomously, and set goals for personal and professional development

· Reliable and punctual

· Hard-working
