Biocides
What are biocides?
Biocides are chemical products used to control harmful organisms, for example bacteria, fungi and viruses. Biocides can be disinfectants, preservatives, antimicrobial wipes, antimicrobial surfaces, handwashes and handrubs.
Comprehensive testing to assess efficacy of biocides
Virologica offers a range of standard methods to assess biocide efficacy such as EN 14476, EN 16777, EN 1276, AOAC 961.02 and many more!
Wound Care
Specialised testing for new and existing wound care products
Wound care products are developed to support the process of healing wounds. There are a wide range of wound care products available including dressings, gels, irrigation solutions and debridement tools.
Methods to demonstrate the efficacy of wound care products
The modified AATCC test method 100 is commonly used for antimicrobial wound dressings. There are also more specialised methods such as ASTM 3383 to determine the microbial barrier properties of dressings.

PPE
Antiviral and antimicrobial PPE
Personal protective equipment or PPE is protective clothing or other items that are designed to protect the wearer, for example gloves, masks, helmets, goggles and clothing. In some cases, PPE can include actives to reduce bacteria or virus that the user comes into contact with.
ISO/IEC 17025 accredited methods
Virologica offer two accredited methods that can be used for PPE, ASTM D7907 to determine the efficacy of antimicrobial medical gloves and ISO 18184 which determines the antiviral efficacy of textiles, for example face masks.
